the challenge

Connect with Internet-savvy college-age females who, while shopping for dorm furnishings, may not be aware of JC Penney’s Dorm Life collection. Create something viral.

how?

We designed and developed a Flash and video-heavy interactive game where the user must meet her boyfriend outside while navigating stereotypical “dorks.” As the user makes his/her way through the dorm, he/she is interrupted by videos of “dorks” attempting to flirt. The user must decide to use JC Penney Dorm Life products to avoid the dork, distract the dork by giving him a friend’s email address, or actually engage the dork somehow. If the evasion is unsuccessful, the user has “dork cling” and is followed around through the dorm on the way outside. If any dorks are clinging at the end of the game, the user’s boyfriend leaves — game over.

key technologies
