Korneel Bouman and I ran Atlantico out of a loft space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  Our factory was in Portugal, and our business partner (Luis de Oliveira from De La Espada) was based in England.  While many things can be done remotely, refining the design of fifteen modern furniture pieces isn’t one of them.  So Korneel and I spent a week with Luis in both London and Portugal — ensuring that production of initial prototypes was going well, tweaking the design, and getting to know the personalities at the factory.
