Husani has worked in the technology field since late 1995, when he co-founded the now-defunct DigiSync Technologies, a technology consulting firm specializing in designing and building networks and intranets. Before making a transition from technology to interactive technology, he was active in local politics, co-founding the Montclair Civil Rights Coalition and leading an effort expand constitutional rights for students in North New Jersey.
He started in interactive in 1998, joining the British Airways team as a Site Builder (later Acting Site Manager, UK) at AGENCY.COM, responsible for managing development of the site’s regional section. While at ACOM, Husani worked on front-end programming for Texaco and Oppenheimer Funds’s websites; developed an interactive game concept for Urban Desires, the cutting-edge e-zine spearheaded by AGENCY.COM’s co-founder, Kyle Shannon; and employee training.
Husani joined now-defunct T3 Media in early 1999 as a Web Integrator (later, Lead Web Integrator) on the AlliedSignal team, with responsibilities including front-end development, integration with backend programming, and interfacing between account managers/producers, client representatives, and the T3 programming staff.
As the first Design Technologist at online marketer I-Traffic (a subsidiary of AGENCY.COM), he worked on interactive advertising campaigns for clients such as ESPN, Disneyland, Staples, and The Discovery Channel. For the latter, he conceptualized and developed the “Wonder Window,” a much-lauded downloadable application/advertisement for The Discovery Channel’s “Raising The Mammoth” documentary. As an Associate Producer for News America Digital Corporation, he worked on migrating Fox News Online to Vignette StoryServer. He also worked with the now-defunct Netsetgoods, an online lifestyle retailer, as their Technology Strategist, developing online community strategies and working on front-end and back-end programming.
At the age of 20, Husani was hired as a Producer/Project Manager at Datek Online (now Ameritrade). At Datek, he managed the team responsible for all non-trading website development. He led the site’s redesign, streamlined the account application process, and helped develop / produce a $150 million marketing campaign. He spent a semester as a Adjunct Professor in TCI’s Digital Media Arts degree program, where he taught courses in Advanced HTML and Flash ActionScript.
In early 2000, he co-founded Flavorpill Productions and a digital marketing subsidiary, Sublit Industries. As a partner and the Director of Technology, Husani’s contributions to the company spurred growth from 800 subscribers in one city (NYC) to over 45,000 subscribers across New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and London. He developed the newsletter’s viral marketing concepts, which allow subscribers to send a specific event listing via email, print, or mobile text messaging. He conceptualized and developed a cutting-edge web-based email content management and publishing application, and developed complex statistical analysis applications used to determine the success rate of all email products.
Husani spent almost two years as the Director of Technology at De La Espada, a multi-national, high-end furniture retailer, where he was responsible for developing automated systems running the firm’s sales, marketing, and customer relations. Out of DLE grew Atlantico, where as a principal, he was jointly responsible for creation and implementation of brand, marketing, technology, and all-things-startup.
Returning to interactive advertising, Husani spent three years at Euro RSCG Worldwide as the Director of Technology for the New York office. Working closely with project managers, account managers, and client brand teams, he was responsible for leading interactive campaign development for clients such as ExxonMobil, Volvo, Zac Posen, Clearasil, Kraft, Intel, and IBM.
Husani spent two years at San Francisco-based Evolution Bureau (EVB), as VP Technology and Digital Production. He led a team of project managers, programmers, and motion designers responsible for producing some of the Web’s most successful digital marketing campaigns.
Currently, Husani is Founder & CEO of Oakley and Partners, a NYC-based digital marketing agency. He’s much too busy to keep this website updated.
